Chicago Club Owner Charged with Drug Trafficking: Dino Gardiakos Faces Serious Allegations
Dino Gardiakos, the owner of Chicago’s popular nightclub, Spybar, has recently been accused of drug smuggling, as reported by ABC7. The allegations stem from a significant drug seizure at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
On March 13th, Gardiakos, aged 43, was allegedly found in possession of 6.3 kilograms of ketamine and 5.8 grams of ecstasy. Authorities discovered six containers containing these substances while he was returning home from London. According to WGN9, Gardiakos confessed to purchasing the drugs and receiving instructions on how to bypass customs from his supplier. His intent was reportedly to sell the controlled substances.
In response to these serious charges, Spybar issued a public statement on March 15th: “The staff, management, and operating owner of Spybar are shocked and saddened by the allegations against and the arrest of Spybar co-owner Dino Gardiakos. We are actively working with our team of professionals to address this issue swiftly and thoroughly.”
Gardiakos was released from custody on Thursday, March 14th, on pre-trial probation. Prosecutors revealed that he was already on probation for previous felony drug charges. His court appearance is scheduled for April 5th.
